Mauricio Pochetino, the manager of Chelsea Football team, has revealed that the team’s new striker, Nicolas Jackson, is suffering at the club.
Nicolas Jackson, like most big-name signings at Chelsea over the years, has struggled to establish himself, particularly in the last two seasons.
Chelsea has a history of being unlucky when it comes to signing a top nine, and the last top nine to be consistently productive at the club was retired Didier Drogba, who left the West London club in 2015.
Chelsea have tried numerous strikers since that year, including Romelu Lukaku, but they have yet to secure a solid striker.
When Nicolas Jackson joined at Stamford Bridge from Villarreal for a cost of €37 million on July 1, 2023, most Chelsea fans thought they had found their new Drogba.
However, Jackson has been the polar opposite of their expectations, scoring just three goals in 11 appearances in all competitions this season.
Pochettino had to defend the 22-year-old Senegalese striker’s form ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup round of 16 match against Blackburn Rovers at 8:45 p.m. today, November 1.
“For various reasons, Jackson is now suffering,” the Argentine tactician explained. Nico requires assistance. “I have faith in him.”
