Chicago Cubs Injury Report: Updates on Jameson Taillon, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Julian Merryweather
Jameson Taillon, the starting pitcher, had a successful rehab start and is set to join Triple-A Iowa for further rehab assignments as he makes his way back to the MLB level. Taillon’s performance on Sunday was limited to just 2 2/3 innings, during which he allowed four runs (3ER) on six hits while playing for the Tennessee Smokies.
Pete Crow-Armstrong, the top prospect for the Cubs, was removed from the game yesterday due to elbow soreness following a recent outfield dive. So far this season, Crow-Armstrong has a batting average of .265 with one home run and four RBIs in 34 at-bats at Iowa.
Julian Merryweather, the veteran reliever, was recently added to the injured list. Cubs manager Craig Counsell announced on Monday that an MRI revealed a rib stress fracture in Merryweather’s back. He is expected to be out for a minimum of 8 weeks on the IL. Despite this setback, Merryweather has had an impressive season so far, posting a 1.93 ERA with six strikeouts and two walks in four appearances.
