RB Jonathan Taylor of the Colts will miss his third straight game due to a thumb injury against the Steelers.
Taylor and the Colts could not have been more frustrated with the timing of the injury. In Week 12, he had run for 91 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, leading to his best game of the season in a 27-20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On the other hand, the team is currently 7-6 and in the thick of the AFC playoff race. The Colts’ first game following Taylor’s thumb injury ended in overtime, as they defeated the Tennessee Titans 31-28, but as a unit they managed just 55 rushing yards. They lost 34-14 to the Cincinnati Bengals, and their incapacity to move the ball (46 total rushing yards) was more concerning.
Indianapolis may find it difficult to score points without Taylor even though the Steelers’ rush defense hasn’t been particularly good, giving up 4.2 yards per carry and 117.9.
