Right-handed reliever Michael Rucker is traded by the Cubs to the Phillies in exchange for cash.
According to several sources, the Cubs sent veteran reliever Michael Rucker, a right-hander, to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for monetary considerations.
The 29-year-old Rucker was selected by the Cubs in the eleventh round of the MLB entry draft in 2016. Before making his major league debut in 2021, he spent five seasons playing in the Cubs minor league system.
In his debut season in the majors, he appeared in 20 games and tossed 28.1 innings with a 6.99 ERA. He walked 11 and struck out 30 batters. That season, Rucker also completed six games and recorded one save. Between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, he participated in 41 and 35 games, respectively. He finished his Cubs career with a 5-2 pitching record and a 4.96 ERA.
