Frank Ragnow of the Detroit Lions received “good news” from his MRI: Alex Anzalone might make a comeback.
Center Frank Ragnow’s MRI on Monday revealed no problems related to his injured knee, but Lions coach Dan Campbell said that Ragnow may miss this week’s game against the Chicago Bears. During Sunday’s victory over the New Orleans Saints, Ragnow suffered a knee injury in the second quarter and was unable to play again.
More than anything, I think we have good news, Campbell remarked. However, that does not imply that he will be accessible this week.
When players rolled into the back of Ragnow’s leg while he was blocking in the second quarter, he was forced to leave the game with more than eight minutes remaining. Walking off the field with a limp, he went straight to a cart that took him to the locker room and he never came back. Graham Glasgow, the right guard, moved to center, and Colby Sorsdal, a rookie, took over at guard in place of the injured Ragnow.

After missing Week 8 against Las Vegas due to a calf injury, Ragnow’s absence this week would mark the second game this season in which he hasn’t started. Detroit has used eight different offensive line combinations in its first 12 games; with Glasgow at center and Sorsdal at right guard, they may use a ninth against Chicago.
After Ragnow’s injury, the Lions were still able to run the ball and keep quarterback Jared Goff safe. Against New Orleans, they managed to run for 142 yards and two touchdowns while giving up just one sack. With Ragnow still in, the majority of the damage was done early, but the offense managed to run out the clock by continuously moving the ball on the ground.
An Anzalone return?

With nine tackles each, Campbell and Barnes shared the team lead. Having started as the team’s defensive coordinator in New Orleans, Campbell led the team with two tackles for loss. Reeves-Maybin recorded a quarterback hit, a pass defensed, and four special teams tackles in addition to two defensive stops.
“Everyone was involved,” stated Dan Campbell. “For us, the linebacker’s room was spacious. That was another area we were pleased with. Now, the linebacker room is one area where we have depth and guys we can trust.”
“Hopefully, we do get Alex back this week and that just brings more firepower.” Additionally, Campbell stated that defensive tackle Alim McNeil is “a little banged up” and that a more thorough assessment of his condition will be provided later this week.
