Rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker, who was activated from the NFI list following his recovery from a college ACL tear, is back at practice for the Detroit Lions. “You can see why we acquired him.”

Even though Hendon Hooker has only recently returned to practice, Dan Campbell claimed he already knows why the Detroit Lions selected the rookie quarterback in the first round.
Rules prohibited Hooker from being coached by Lions personnel while he was on the NFI list. Meetings were one thing he could observe, though. After being activated by the Lions this week, Hooker is beginning to feel more like a member of the team, according to Campbell, who made this statement during Friday’s media availability.
“It’s beneficial to have him visible,” Campbell remarked. From his own point of view, I know he’s thrilled to be able to experience what it’s like to be a member of the team. Restricting yourself to meetings alone can be difficult. Next, you head to rehab. Thus, I’m sure he’s eager to be outside.
In 11 games during the previous season, Hooker threw for 3,135 yards, 27 touchdowns, and two interceptions for Tennessee. Together with that, he ran for 430 yards and five touchdowns. He played for the Volunteers for two seasons, throwing for over 6,000 yards and scoring over 60 touchdowns overall.
You can see why we acquired him when he throws the ball, even though we’re just getting started, Campbell said. “He has a really smooth, tight spiral delivery and exudes poise.” But he has only just begun. Though he’s just getting started, it’s a good idea to introduce him.
