In response to Kevin Durant’s GOAT-level remarks, Draymond Green
In a recent interview with Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin, Kevin Durant, star of the Phoenix Suns, stated that if he hadn’t joined the Golden State Warriors, he would have been discussed among the greatest of all time.
In his exclusive interview with Rankin, Durant stated, “Because I went to the Warriors.” “What makes me not belong in that? That’s the proper question for you to ask. Why not? What have I failed to do?
Naturally, these remarks have generated controversy, and Draymond Green, Durant’s former teammate for the Warriors, commented on them in a podcast episode. Although Green stated that he would never discount Durant’s titles and accepted that the Suns player is among the greatest scorers of all time, he ultimately feels that in order to be considered for the Hall of Fame, he must lead a team to a championship like Steph Curry did in 2022.
“Steph didn’t get the credit that Steph gets today until 2022 when he led this team to a championship and won Finals MVP,” Green stated. “… You gotta go do what Steph did to get to that conversation.”
Green makes a valid point when he points out how exclusive that conversation is and the reason Durant hasn’t joined yet. Nevertheless, Green is aware that Durant is among the greatest scorers in NBA history and an all-time great. The GOAT debate is simply at a different level.
