Elite Prospect Joson Sanon Commits to Arizona, Accelerates Graduation and Joins 2024 Class
In an interview with Givony, Sanon explained his decision: “I’ve chosen Arizona because it’s a perfect fit for my style of play. I love their scoring ability and how they create opportunities for their players. They excel at playing at a fast pace, which is something that attracts me. Being at the center of a high-powered offense is really appealing. I wanted to make my commitment before the transfer portal frenzy begins.”
Ranked as the 11th best overall prospect and second best small forward in the class of 2025 according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Sanon revealed that he plans to accelerate his graduation from high school this summer in order to enter college basketball one year earlier as part of the 2024 recruiting class. This move puts him alongside other standout prospects like Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, and Dylan Harper.
Sanon’s recent achievement in leading his team to victory in securing the NEPSAC AAA championship played a significant role in motivating him to reclassify.
“I had set certain goals for myself this season that would help me determine if I’m ready for early graduation,” shared Sanon. “Winning a championship was one of them—being able to lead a team and contribute as its primary scorer while maintaining strong defensive capabilities. Physically speaking, I feel prepared for college-level play. The next step is improving my basketball IQ and building upon my existing skill set.”
Joining Sanon at Arizona will be other highly regarded recruits such as Carter Bryant (small forward), Jamari Phillips (shooting guard), and Emmanuel Stephen (undisclosed position). The Wildcats completed their regular season with an impressive record of 25-8 and secured a No. 2 seed in the West region for the NCAA Tournament commencing on Thursday against Long Beach State.
Although there are expectations that many young talents will remain on Arizona’s roster heading into 2024, sources suggest that players like Pelle Larsson, Keshad Johnson, Ousmar Ballo and Caleb Love are likely departures from the program, making Sanon’s commitment all the more crucial in replenishing potential lost talent.
