Yamamoto is expected to make a choice soon, and Ohtani has already landed. After that, it is anticipated that the market will significantly improve.
Tommy Pham, an outfielder, is one former Met who may find good market value. Prior to the 2023 season, the veteran of ten years joined the Mets and played in 79 games before being traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks. His season totals were 16 home runs, 68 RBIs, and a slash line of.256/.328/.446.
Though it’s unknown where he ends up, Zachary Rymer of Bleacher Report reports that the Cleveland Guardians are one team that has been mentioned in passing in relation to him during free agency.
“What the Guardians need more than anything is an impact bat, and ideally one that could slot into right field on a regular basis,” said Rymer. Only 10 home runs and a.629 OPS were generated by the position this season. The team’s budget is a little tight, which is problematic.
It is anticipated that their payroll operations in 2024 will resemble those of 2023. Furthermore, the two figures currently line up closely. Is it unreasonable to expect them to make an effort to sign Tommy Pham, though? With a hint of leadership thrown in, he may not even be able to command an eight-figure salary in 2024, making him a cheap source of power.”
Pham is inexpensive in free agency and has the ability to play all three outfield positions. Any team may benefit from him, and the Guardians could make sense.
