Kaizer Chiefs receive a come-get-me plea from former Orlando Pirates coach De Sa, saying, “They know where I am.”
His job search coincides with the Chiefs’ pursuit of a new coach to succeed Molefi Ntseki, who was let go in October 2023. The Soweto giants now have Cavin Johnson as their interim coach. De Sa says he is willing to speak with Amakhosi about a permanent position, but he would prefer to begin at Naturena before the season ends.
“It’s always better to start early than later, even if it’s not an active role,” De Sa stated to KickOff.
It would provide a little advantage to their incoming head coach. If they are going to change, I believe that would be wise.
“I haven’t applied for a job, nor have I sent any resumes to anyone. They are aware of my location. They would get in touch with me if they were interested.” “Before, if clubs were interested in anything that interests me, they would first fill me in, tell me their plans… then I’d make a decision,” he stated.
“I have no doubt that the Chiefs will make a decision about their goals, desires, and future plans. “They’ve been in a struggle for the last couple of years, but I think they are a team that can easily turn a corner at any moment.”
“Everyone is aware of my availability. “I’m at home,” the former coach of the Bucs said.
“I’m sitting at home examining my options; I’m in no rush. I’ll make a choice after speaking with a few people from various nations. I work for my wife now, and she’s the boss, so I’m free.
“Chiefs must merely make the necessary corrections to the one or two things that have gone wrong while continuing to uphold the rights [the right things] that they are doing there. They are both an enormous and opulent club.” “They were among the best clubs in Africa, they’ve been well-run, and I have no doubt that they are about to turn things around. It can’t be that far away,” he said.
Based on his resume, De Sa appears to be a potential candidate for the Amakhosi position. In the past few years, he has gained a great deal of experience serving as Carlos Queiroz’s assistant coach for the national teams of Egypt, Iran, and Qatar.
He was exposed to elite football after playing for the Pharaohs in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final and representing his country in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. His resume is impeccable, and he led Orlando Pirates to the 2013 CAF Champions League championship.
It remains to be seen if the Chiefs will give De Sa any thought over the next several months while they look for a long-term head coach.
They would be impressed by the former Pirates coach’s familiarity with local football, given that he has coached Platinum Stars, Bidvest Wits, Santos, Cape Town Spurs, and Maritzburg United.
