Gators RB Trevor Etienne, is transferring from Florida to Georgia.
Former Florida running back Trevor Etienne stated on Sunday via On3Sports that he is moving to Georgia, the team with whom he spent the first two seasons of his college career.
Etienne’s NCAA transfer portal entry, which had been widely speculated as the result of a whirlwind of college football rumors, became official on December 7. Etienne praised his Florida teammates, coaches, and fans for their support throughout his two years with the program in a corresponding message on the same day.
The setback is significant as Billy Napier approaches his third summer as Florida’s head coach, following back-to-back losing seasons to begin his tenure in Gainesville. Etienne was one of the first talents targeted and recruited by Napier in the role, as the running back committed to and signed with UF in early 2022.
His probable move to a bitter rival of the Gators just adds salt to the wound, though Napier handled Etienne with respect on his way out the door.
“Yeah, I think Trevor has done well for the Gators.” That’s what I’d say,” Napier said on December 20, referring to Etienne’s departure from Florida. “I have nothing but admiration for Trevor.” Nothing but respect for his approach, practice habits, and contribution to the squad. We wish him the best in the future.”
Etienne finished his two-year Florida career with 249 rushing attempts for 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per attempt, and 30 receptions for 238 yards and a score. Over 26 kickoff returns, he averaged 24.8 yards per attempt.
He appeared in 24 games with the Gators, including his first career start in Florida’s season finale against Florida State in 2023.
