Former player with the Memphis Grizzlies signs with the Toronto Raptors
Guard Kobi Simmons apparently signed a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors. During the 2017–18 NBA season, Simmons made his NBA debut with the Memphis Grizzlies, appearing in 32 games and making 12 starts. Simmons shot 42/28/100 to score 6.1 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 rebounds while playing for the Grizzlies.
Following his tenure with the Grizzlies, Simmons went on to play for the Charlotte Hornets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Over the course of his NBA career, Simmons averaged 41/27/100 points, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 rebounds. For the Raptors 905 squad in the G League, Simmons averaged 15.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.2 rebounds.
Although it’s difficult to predict, Kobi Simmons will undoubtedly have opportunities with the Toronto Raptors even if he doesn’t receive a lot of playing time. Toronto is searching for younger, appealing players for the future rather than making a significant postseason push. As a shooting first point guard, Simmons has the potential to be a respectable scorer, but he has to raise his shooting percentages, particularly from three.
Kobi Simmons, who is only 26 years old, will have more opportunities in the future, but for now, he has had plenty. Hopefully, the Toronto Raptors and the former guard for the Memphis Grizzlies can work things out.
