Shamar Joseph signs with LSG for the 2024 IPL
Joseph was signed by LSG on Saturday, February 10, 2024, after the player’s services were obtained for Rs 3 crore. The West Indies bowler gained notoriety after his valiant performance against Australia.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra stated that after making the playoffs the past two seasons, LSG will be aiming for a podium finish. He insisted that Joseph could assist them in achieving this goal. In his two Test matches played thus far, Joseph has taken 13 wickets. He will take over for Wood, who participated in the IPL for just the second time last season and claimed 11 wickets in four games, including a five-wicket performance against the Delhi Capitals.
Shamar Joseph has signed with the Lucknow Super Giants. Having made it to the playoffs two years in a row, the Lucknow team has to move on. In the end, you want to cross the finish line on the podium, possibly holding the award. They have now retained Joseph as a result,” Chopra said.
“It was most likely anticipated that Mark Wood would not be available all season. But prior to that, they made the decision to say goodbye to Mark Wood and hello to Shamar Joseph. Joseph is now a member of this squad, Chopra continued.
He continued, calling Joseph’s signing thrilling and praising his journey to success as a lovely one. At the Gabba, Joseph was the standout player for the West Indies as they defeated Australia by a remarkable 8 runs. In 36 years, this was the West Indies’ first victory at the Gabba.
The narrative centers on a woodcutter. Everybody in his village is a carpenter. His story so began there, and it is stunning where it has gone from there. Shamar Joseph will therefore participate in the Indian Premier League. It’s fantastic because he has a really excellent contract, Chopra remarked.
LSG made it to the playoffs for the second consecutive year and finished third in the IPL 2023 points standings, although they were upset by Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians.
