Giants players praise Brian Daboll in an NFLPA survey following the incident with Wink Martindale.
Daboll, who was ranked 13th in the league, is perceived by players as someone who is “very willing to listen to the locker room. ” With an overall A-minus, he was ranked 13th out of his classmates.
Now, Wink Martindale, the former defensive coordinator for the Giants, was not involved in this study, and it is likely that he would not have had such a favorable opinion of his former employer.
Martindale is currently at the University of Michigan after working for Daboll for just two years. His complaints about Daboll’s treatment of his coaching staff are unrelated to the players’ perceptions of the head coach’s treatment of them.
In an annual survey that was just released, the players’ union asked 1,706 players about their teams in 11 different categories, in an effort to gather information before free agents had to decide where they would play next season.
The Giants performed admirably, coming in at number eight out of the 32 teams. Following the arrival of general manager Joe Schoen and Daboll in 2022, the Giants placed eighth in this survey during their inaugural season. In Year No. 2, they kept that excellent grade.
Once again, the Giants study was exceptionally nice to longstanding head trainer and senior vice president of medical services Ronnie Barnes, as 96 percent of players said they receive enough one-on-one time—the highest percentage in the NFL.
A was the lowest mark for the way families were treated. The Giants are one of 12 clubs that do not offer a family area on game days, but they do offer childcare.
92 percent of players despise playing on a synthetic surface, hence, the Giants players’ disapproval of the playing surface at MetLife Stadium is practically universal. This sentiment is common around the league.
The Giants players are particularly happy with the way the team travels. Ninety-four percent of players are happy with their personal space when flying, and the Giants do not require players to have roommates when on the road.
