Tiger Woods withdraws from PGA Tour event through illness
At the Genesis Invitational, Tiger Woods finished the first round one over par.
n reality, Woods has made a sporadic comeback to the professional game since breaking his leg in a car accident in 2021. His most recent victory came in the 2019 Zozo Championship in Japan. Experienced player and 15-time major champion Woods was tied for 49th after the first round, but he has subsequently withdrew from competition. He would have had a chance to advance if he had been able to continue, as only the top 50 and those within 10 shots would advance to the halfway cut.
Regarding the physical ups and downs, Woods remarked, “That’s just part of my body, that’s part of what it is. My back was spasming the last couple holes and it was locking up.” That is acceptable. I acknowledge it and embrace the difficulties.
Regarding his first-round performance, Woods continued, “A lot of good and a lot of indifferent.” Either or was the case. It wasn’t many (seven), but I’m not sure how many pars I had. I couldn’t seem to get anything steady going today; I was either making birdies or bogeys.

In California, Woods made his comeback to the tour with a 72-hole performance that was one stroke over par.
