Patrick Kane of the Red Wings will not participate on the road trip due to a lower-body ailment.
Head coach Derek Lalonde reports that Kane is struggling with a lower-body injury that he sustained during the opening frame of Sunday’s victory in Toronto.
Before joining with Detroit as a free agency in December, the 35-year-old had hip surgery in the off-season. He had played just 1:07 before sustaining this most recent ailment.
It’s unclear if the injury is connected to Kane’s chronic hip problems. According to Lalonde, the veteran is back in Detroit.
Following his late November signing with the Red Wings, Kane has seven goals and sixteen points in 19 games this season.
Following their victory in Toronto on Sunday, the Red Wings are currently on a three-game road trip that includes games against Florida on Wednesday and Carolina on Friday.
