Packers-49ers Tuesday Injury Report: Jaire Alexander ‘Practices’
The Green Bay Packers did not practice on Tuesday due to their tight turnaround for their playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night. Cornerback Jaire Alexander’s involvement would have been restricted if they had practiced.
That is significant. After rolling his ankle during practice the previous week, Alexander recovered to play a key part in the Packers’ playoff triumph over the Dallas Cowboys, including a crucial interception in the first quarter that helped the team take an early 14-0 lead. However, with only five minutes left in the third quarter, he twisted his ankle while advancing to make a tackle.
The reason Alexander did not play again had nothing to do with the overwhelming result. On Monday, head coach Matt LaFleur stated, “I don’t think he would have gone back in, but I don’t know.” We’ll find out more throughout the course of the week, and because he’s a valuable member of our squad, maybe he’ll be able to participate. And it was impressive to watch him perform as well as he did in such a big game.
LaFleur listed 15 players as injured on his weekly injury report. This includes Kingsley Enagbare, the outside linebacker, who had a serious knee injury at the end of the game. Against the Cowboys, he recorded a team-high two quarterback hits.
“I am incredibly impressed with him; his improvement from the previous season to this one, his defense-oriented play style and his unwavering pursuit of the ball, are all things I find admirable,” LaFleur remarked. “That game has several instances of the physicality we advocate, the hustle to the ball.”
According to LaFleur, Enagbare was receiving support from the other outside linebackers on the squad and position coach Jason Rebrovich in order to manage his physical and emotional suffering.
“Everyone there is hurting for him.” Everybody is suffering for him,” LaFleur remarked. He’s gone a long way, and he always approaches and approaches life with the appropriate mindset. His predicament is certainly incredibly sad for both him and our football squad.
Rashan Gary and Preston Smith play together on the field before being replaced by Enagbare and first-round pick Lukas Van Ness, as the Packers frequently rotate their outside linebackers in pairs. Brenton Cox is the next guy up in the absence of Enagbare.
With four defensive snaps and nine special team snaps in four games, the undrafted rookie has seen action. His final game took place on Thanksgiving in Detroit, and he played his final defensive plays in Week 6 at Denver.
The bye week in San Francisco proved to be beneficial for standout running back Christian McCaffrey, who was fully engaged.Trent Williams, a left tackle, Dre Greenlaw, a linebacker, and Logan Ryan, a safety, did not practice. Coach Kyle Shanahan said on Wednesday that all three will practice.
Regarding McCaffrey, who led the NFL in scrimmage yardage, Shanahan stated, “I think he’s geared up and ready to go.” The same as the previous year. Most likely in the same manner as he was in his five-year-old playoff game. Christian remains constant. He waits for that moment all the time. He had been anticipating this day for some time.
