Lisa Bluder of the Iowa Hawkeyes is named Coach of the Week by ESPN.
The Iowa Hawkeyes have one of the best coaching staffs in the whole country. Lisa Bluder has a knack for winning games, making quick adjustments, and getting the best out of her teams. Because of the Hawkeyes’ impressive performance last week, ESPN named her Coach of the Week.
Lisa Bluder, Iowa, is this week’s coach.
Although Bluder had many of her players from the previous season back, including Clark, she was forced to rely on some younger, less seasoned players to fill important roles after losing two starters.
In the NCAA Tournament, the Hawkeyes are vying for the top seed once more. Bluder has developed a solid team dynamic while letting Clark flourish. And on Saturday, the Big Ten women’s basketball coaching leader in coaching victories earned her first victory at Maryland. Michael Voepel of ESPN
With a 10-1 record in Big Ten play, Bluder has the Hawkeyes at 21-2 overall. In addition to winning the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles, Iowa is headed for a top seed in the NCAA Tournament. Bluder has her work cut out for her, but at times that’s all that matters because she has them confident.
