Hull defender Jacob Greaves has entered into transfer negotiations with Ipswich.
Ipswich Town and Hull City are currently negotiating the transfer of Jacob Greaves, although no deal has yet been reached.
Ipswich began conversations about a potential fee of roughly £10 million, but this is thought to be much lower than Hull’s expectations at this stage.
Hull’s senior sources, who did not want to be named to safeguard relationships, told The Athletic that conversations with Ipswich are ongoing, that other teams are interested, and that their valuation of the player has not been capped.
The 23-year-old, who joined Hull’s junior system in 2008, is considered as a key player in their effort to follow Ipswich’s footsteps and achieve promotion to the Premier League.
Over the previous four seasons, the central defender has made 177 first-team appearances for Hull City.
Greaves was named to the Championship Team of the Season for 2023-24 and Hull City’s Player of the Year for the same season, and other clubs are keeping an eye on his future.
Greaves of Hull: ‘I saw us as a spectator in the Premier League – that’s what we’re going for. The Athletic reported earlier this week that Ipswich were monitoring a transfer for central defender and Panathaniokos striker Fotis Ioannidis, though no formal contact has yet been made.
Ipswich are preparing for their first season back in the Premier League since 2001-02, after securing back-to-back promotions from League One and the Championship. Hull finished seventh in the Championship this season, one position short of making the promotion play-offs.
