One guy who has been a constant source of trouble for the Raiders is Chris Jones, a defensive end who is among the finest in the NFL and has a history of sabotaging opposition offensive lines. The 2022 First-Team All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler is off to another strong start in his rookie campaign. He signed a one-year contract extension with the Chiefs early in September, having missed the opening game.
Jones has 22 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits, and seven and a half sacks in nine games this season. He just finished a two-sack performance against the Eagles.Pro Football Focus reports that Jones has generated 36 pressures in all this season. The Mississippi State product who was previously selected in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft has distinguished himself as the star of the Chiefs’ defense.
Jones provides the Chiefs the defensive line versatility at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds. In addition to being a threat outside, he can rush from the inside. Though he has spent much of the last two games on the interior, he has played the majority of his snaps on the edge.
In order to give rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell more time to throw against this formidable Chiefs defense, the Raiders would like to have left tackle Kolton Miller back for this contest. Jones’s pass-rushing ability has the power to completely ruin a game by itself. In an attempt to stay competitive in the AFC West, the Raiders must contain Jones if they hope to defeat the Chiefs on defense.
This week, the Silver and Black will be back at home for Thanksgiving. On Sunday, November 26, at 4:25 p.m. EST/1:25 p.m. PST, they will play their AFC West foe, the Kansas City Chiefs.
