Hawkeyes Get Kadyn Proctor’s Commitment
An Iowan Enters the Home-State Program After spending a season with Alabama, Iowa Football lost badly in December 2022 when in-state, five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor abandoned Iowa to play for Alabama. The Hawkeyes wished him well and handled it beautifully.
When the Crimson Tide transfer said he was returning home on Saturday, it proved to be a successful strategy. Soon after declaring his choice, he went to the Iowa men’s basketball game and was the talk of Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
An exodus from Tuscaloosa occurred earlier this month as a result of the retirement of longtime Alabama coach Nick Saban. In Proctor’s instance, Iowa gained while the Tide lost.
In 2023, Proctor (6-7, 360) started at left tackle for Alabama in all 13 games. The SEC awarded him all-freshman honors.
In June 2022, the Pleasant Hill, Iowa, native and Southeast Polk High School alumnus made a verbal commitment to Iowa. He joined with the Tide six months later.
The Iowa coaches openly wished Proctor well, despite some Hawkeye fans taking offense at him and his family on social media. He was brought home with the assistance of that fact and his pals from the current Iowa squad.
Iowa’s left tackle, Mason Richman, who has started the previous three seasons, is back for his senior year in ’24. Gennings Dunker, the starting right tackle, will return as well. Up front, the team welcomes back starters Logan Jones and Connor Colby.
Maybe Richman or Dunker will come inside to make room for Proctor. On paper, the newcomer enhances the unit, that much is certain.
