Kalen DeBoer updates on recruitment in Alabama
DeBoer’s staff is considering Folsom, California, defensive lineman Joshua Sharma among other players in the 2025 class. Soon after DeBoer left for Alabama, the 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman, who had committed to Washington on New Year’s Day, decommitted.
The Crimson Tide made Sharma an offer fairly quickly, and he left for Tuscaloosa at the start of February. He has a three-star rating from 247Sports and is ranked No. 60 nationwide in his class. Here is a report about Sharma’s trip to Tuscaloosa. He also discussed it with Bama247.
Anthony Sacca, a four-star linebacker ranked No. 247 by USA Today, is another athlete DeBoer’s staff is considering for 2025. He plays for Philadelphia St. Joseph. He has maintained communication with Alabama since DeBoer’s hiring, and last month, assistant coach Colin Hitschler paid him a visit. After stopping by Penn State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State in the spring and winter, among other places, Sacca traveled to Alabama for the first time early this month.
Georgia and Florida State are among the 25 offers the four-star linebacker has received. He ranks as the sixth-best player in Pennsylvania and the 25th-best linebacker in his class. You can read more about his plans on Bama247, where he discussed his visit to Tuscaloosa in great detail.
Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, the top prospect in Washington, is a linebacker that DeBoer is also pursuing. Rainey-Sale decided to expand his recruiting after DeBoer decided to join the Crimson Tide instead of the Huskies, despite his commitment to both DeBoer and Washington. Rainey-Sale received an offer from Alabama from DeBoer’s staff a few days later, and it is now anticipated that he will make a decision between Alabama and Washington at some point.
At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Rainey-Sale is rated as the 80th best prospect in the country for the Class of 2025, and he may end up helping Alabama develop over that cycle.
With just two commitments for 2025, the Crimson Tide are presently ranked 30th in 247Sports’ team recruiting rankings. This contest may come down to Washington vs. Alabama later this year. Rainey-Sale is anticipated to receive official visits in the spring. Here is the updated recruiting timetable that Bama247 shared after learning more about his decision. In the meantime, if Grubb decides to join the NFL, Alabama’s staff might appear different.
According to John Talty of 247Sports, he is a candidate for the offensive coordinator position with the Seahawks. Grubb has been traveling, recruiting for the Crimson Tide, though Alabama has not formally confirmed his hiring. The 48-year-old created a potent Washington offense despite lacking any prior NFL coaching experience. Before deciding to accompany DeBoer to Alabama, Grubb had hoped to get an offer for the Washington position.
