More output from a young guard is needed for Auburn basketball.
Auburn needs to put the Florida game behind them and focus on playing excellent basketball this week against South Carolina and Kentucky, two very strong basketball teams.
Aden Holloway, an Auburn freshman point guard, is one player who needs to step up. Tre Donaldson has taken his place in the starting lineup, but he is still playing as the backup point guard.
Holloway’s stats have declined; he is only averaging 8.4 points and 2.9 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 30.7% from three. Many had predicted that these statistics would be significantly higher going into the season.
Regarding Holloway’s basketball shooting, Coach Pearl stated, “I could probably count on one hand the number of bad shots Aden has taken all season.” Even though he’s undoubtedly taken more shots than people realize, I believe that every time he fires, it finds its target.
Even if their shooting is poor. That demonstrates his skill level and the amount of effort he puts into his shooting. Holloway, a fantastic shooter, just went through a bad rookie slump.
In actuality, Holloway must begin making threes at a rate of more than 38 percent if the Tigers are to have any chance of winning in March. March is won by guard play, and Donaldson has had an excellent season. Auburn won’t be able to make it to the Final Four if Holloway can heat up when it matters most.
