Latest: Top prospect for the Toronto Blue Jays signs with the New York Yankees
Formerly, Groshans was regarded as one of baseball’s best prospects, coming up with the Toronto Blue Jays.
From 2020 to 2022, he was in the Top 100 prospects (as reported by MLB.com) three times in a row, peaking at No. 46 in 2021. Groshans is still only 24 years old, so there’s still a potential that as he gets older, he’ll discover who he is, but that hasn’t occurred yet. He has batted.262 in 61 major league at-bats in his career. Last season, he hit just.244 at Triple-A, with just six home runs.
Although it doesn’t appear likely, you never know. In 2024, he might be able to contribute to the Yankees in the major leagues. On the 40-man roster for New York are infielders Anthony Volpe, DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres, Anthony Rizzo, Oswald Peraza, and Jorbit Vivas.
The Yankees have high hopes going into spring training. Following their season-ending fourth-place performance in the American League East and elimination from the postseason, New York signed Marcus Stroman and acquired Alex Verdugo, Trent Grisham, and Juan Soto via trades.
They also anticipate that top prospect Jasson Dominguez will return from his injury in the middle of the summer.
