The Chargers had finally gained some momentum with a touchdown-scoring drive, and there was still enough time remaining for anything to happen. It was the kind of crucial moment that frequently serves as a turning point for teams that come back with a bang.
Rather, Russell Wilson helped the Broncos maintain momentum with some brilliant play-calling by head coach Sean Payton. Together, they orchestrated a 13-play, 75-yard scoring drive that culminated in an incredible play-action touchdown pass to tight end Adam Trautman. That eliminated the game completely.
The Broncos defense played the first part of the offense’s final genuine drive on the sideline using an iPad, but soon the players on that side of the ball could hear from the stands that Wilson and company were winning.
Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton said via conference call on Monday, “I can usually tell how long a drive goes because we’ll go through our plays, and then you sit there for a little while, and then you kind of get antsy.” “And unless you hear, ‘Punt ready for third downs,’ it’s always nice to kind of see where we’re at,”
I’m completely ignoring what the offense is doing. All you can do is hope that they’re doing well, and you can hear the audience by listening to who is applauding and what’s happening.”
