Liverpool may be missing seven players against Manchester City as Jordan Henderson reaches a new low.
Jordan Henderson and the most recent news ahead of Manchester City are among the stories you should read this morning about Liverpool.
Prior to their triumph over Brentford, Liverpool were faced by two new injury concerns in Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.
In the run-up to Thomas Frank’s visit, Liverpool were concerned about the fitness of captain Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch, who had missed the midweek Europa League defeat to Toulouse due to illness and injury, respectively.
While the rest was beneficial to Van Dijk, who produced another impressive performance at the defense in the 3-0 win over Brentford, Gravenberch was sidelined. With Alexis MacAllister suspended for one match and Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic all injured, Reds manager Jurgen Klopp was left short of midfield alternatives. So much so that he had to start 16-year-old Trey Nyoni on the bench for the first time since joining from Leicester City in the summer.
Klopp was also beset by defensive issues, with Konate and Gomez joining Andy Robertson on the sidelines. Konate’s injury has forced him to withdraw from Didier Deschamps’ France squad for this month’s games against Gibraltar and Greece, and he has been replaced by Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.
There has been no formal announcement on Konate and Gomez’s diagnoses. While Mac Allister is expected to return for the top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday, November 25, Klopp is concerned about a lot of injuries.
Jordan Henderson reaches a new low as a Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino is no longer captain.
Jordan Henderson played in front of a season-low crowd of 610 on Saturday as Al-Ettifaq drew 0-0 away at Al-Fayha.
After becoming disillusioned with his potentially declining starting possibilities at Anfield following a £150 million midfield renovation, the former Liverpool captain left the club in controversial circumstances in the summer, reuniting with Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ettifaq had a strong start to the season, winning five of their first seven Saudi Pro League games. They have since slipped, winning just one of their previous seven matches in all competitions, dropping them to eighth in the rankings.
However, it is Al-Ettifaq’s low attendances in the Gulf State that has sent tongues wagging back home, with their journey to Al-Fayha only being witnessed by 610 people.
This is the smallest audience of the season, surpassing the 696 they faced when visiting Al-Riyadh last month.
