Jim Harbaugh Could Sign the Nation’s Top Quarterback for Michigan Football
Regarding the Michigan Wolverines’ next quarterback, there are still a lot of rumors circulating. One of the best quarterback prospects in the 2024 NFL draft is thought to be J.J. McCarthy. This means that the role will remain undefined until 2024.
Michigan is vying for the top quarterback prospect in the nation for 2025, Bryce Underwood. While it may not be a quick fix, waiting for the top player could be worthwhile.Michigan is ranked second in the odds to win Underwood by On3.com.
The good news for head coach Jim Harbaugh is that LSU is seen as a significant favorite at 91.7% in On3’s prediction computer. This presents a dilemma, though. Michigan has a mere 3.6% chance of landing Underwood based on these odds.
Zach Libby of On3.com thinks that while Alabama is trying to close the gap, the Wolverines lost out on a great recruitment opportunity in Underwood.
In an article titled “Five things we learned about Michigan recruiting in December,” published on January 1, 2024, Libby stated that “Five-star Belleville (Mich.) High quarterback Bryce Underwood returned to Alabama the weekend before the December dead period, which falls during his planned commitment date this Saturday.”
“Underwood appeared on campus during Michigan’s victory over Ohio State.” Until then, he hadn’t visited the facilities since the yearly barbecue at The Big House in late July. LSU is still the clear favorite, but if Underwood and his family had made one final trip to Ann Arbor, Libby said, U-M might have gained momentum.
“Kirk Campbell, the quarterbacks coach, had a great chance to have one last meeting with Jim Harbaugh and witness Rose Bowl practice the weekend he traveled to Tuscaloosa. Instead, with six days remaining until Underwood makes a commitment, the team is looking in from the outside.
The critique is valid, but with so much time to pass before Underwood can commit in writing, it is difficult to become overly irate. Top recruits have transferred schools in the NIL era as National Signing Day approaches.
Michigan now has a quarterback of the future on campus, which is wonderful news for the Wolverines. Ahead of the Rose Bowl, Michigan’s four-star quarterback Jadyn Davisโone of the team’s top prospects from the 2024 classโis working out.
Davis, a quarterback from Providence Day School in Charlotte, is ranked No. 9 in the nation by 247Sports. Harbaugh has his eye on the young signal-caller already.
During a December 30 media availability, Harbaugh discussed his early views of Davis and said, “He’s doing it exactly how I just explained it and just the intelligence, the athleticism that it takes to do that, I found is rare.” “That instead of [needing] many repetitions or a lot of time on task, you can understand something and then athletically just go do it.”
“He is both athletic enough to instantly mimic what you’re saying and able to visualize it.” That’s unique, then. That is something I became aware of right away.so eager to mentor him.
The best programs in the nation are putting a lot of effort into pursuing Underwood for a reason. Underwood, who is 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, already has the build of a college football quarterback. A Michigan native who attends Belleville High School is the top-ranked player of 2025.
Allen Trieu of 247Sports commented on Underwood’s scouting profile, saying, “Ahead of his years physically and looks like he could be a senior or college player already.” “Is capable of making throws to any area of the field thanks to a strong arm. Can utilize touch to give his receivers an opportunity to make plays with the ball and throws a good deep ball.
