After Jose Altuve’s outburst during the contentious expulsion, supporters of the Mets show support for him.
When Altuve was dismissed in the seventh inning, a large number of Mets fans began to jeer. The supporter countered that he did nothing to harm the home team and that it was foolish of the supporters to jeer him.
“Observe! Another hit is coming for him! Continue tormenting him! Continue tormenting him! (0:06) Very astute! Do not f**king mistreat him! F**k! Eliminate the f**king garbage cans from your f**king behind! Give up harassing him! (0:21) Man, f**k! Bully him, but I want to pay him! How did he treat us? Nothing!” the fan comments on the widely shared video.

“LOVE THIS”: Rachel Luba, Trevor Bauer’s agent, cries as the former MLB pitcher receives recognition for his incredible performance in the LMB. Altuve seemed to hit a ball with his left foot for the final out of the seventh inning, but he failed to get to first base. Mark Vientos, the third baseman, jumped on the ball and threw to first for the out.
After a debate between the umpires, home plate umpire James Jean declared Altuve out, denying the Astros a chance to extend their advantage to 4-2 with runners in scoring position. Altuve slammed his helmet, clearly annoyed by the call. He was dismissed from the game after his enthusiastic rendition, which the Astros went on to win 10-5 in extra innings.
Jose Altuve argues that his spirited outburst was not a call
When Astros manager Joe Espada inquired about whether the play could be reviewed, the authorities refused it. Jose Altuve remained agitated over the call following Houston’s victory over the Mets, claiming that it was an easy one to make.
According to Altuve, “They didn’t see it.” “I know that because the catcher was there, the man behind the plate missed it. However, there are three more guys: the first, second, and third. It seemed fairly obvious to me. I was furious because of this.” [via AP].
Espada supported his second baseman’s actions, believing that the ball had left Altuve’s cleat.
According to Espada, “the ball kind of took a different direction once it hit the ground, to Vientos.” “And Jose Altuve is the guy who would beat a ball out at first base and get out of the box, second, and third.” Which means that ball hit him if he’s arguing. And it appeared to me that the ball had struck him.
Before this game, Jose Altuve had only been sent off once. That took place in August 2016 when the Texas Rangers contested a third strike call.
