Despite his heartbreak at Hearts, Andy Halliday is “settled” at Motherwell, but he hasn’t lost his passion for football.
After Hearts dumped him, Andy Halliday feels he’s found the right place at Motherwell, and he’s liking it so far. The 32-year-old former Rangers player is on loan until the end of the current campaign, at which point he will sign a one-year contract once his Tynecastle term expires.
During his little over three years with the Hearts, Halliday only made six appearances off the bench, playing less than an hour overall this season. Over the course of 17 days, he has managed more than that in four games at Motherwell, and he expects to add many more.
Tuesday’s 5-0 victory over Ross County marked Halliday’s first goal for Motherwell. Halliday left the field to a standing ovation, even though Lennon Miller replaced him after 49 minutes. He should be okay for Friday’s Scottish Cup fifth-round showdown against Morton at Cappielow.
“I feel fine; I believe it’s just a build-up from not playing football for a while to playing a few games in quick succession,” he remarked. Ever since I arrived, I have truly relished it. I feel like I’ve been here for a lot longer, and I feel incredibly settled, even though it has only been two or three weeks.
“It has been great for me to be back on the pitch after spending so much time off the field,” the manager, staff, and boys all said.I never lost interest in football [at Hearts], but it is difficult to replicate the rush of being back on the field. Fortunately, the games have been coming at me quickly.
“I’m increasing my match-fitness, so maybe not as much for the old fatigue levels. “To be honest, the medical personnel and staff have been quite understanding of my position, which is excellent.
“I believe Morton has not lost in 13 games at this point, so they are also in a good amount of space. It will be a big fixture for us, and we are excited about it. “I believe the team has a lot of quality, and my arrival has only served to reinforce it.
