NBA Power Rankings: Suns drop in the wake of Kevin Durant’s alleged dissatisfaction, while Knicks and Heat are in the top 10 following Christmas.
The NBA season officially began on Christmas Day, or it did until the thrill of the In-Season Tournament invaded our life. Feel free to take that statement with or without irony. The lineup for this year did not dissapoint; we witnessed outstanding solo and group efforts from the best players in the league.
In terms of the Power Rankings, this week saw little movement at the top, with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics holding their respective top two slots in spite of losses. The biggest losers of the week were the Los Angeles Clippers, who were ranked third last week, but lost their winning streak and ended up at No. 10.
Speaking of the top 10, after successful weeks that resulted in victories on Christmas Day, the Miami Heat and New York Knicks have both established themselves as two of the league’s best teams. With Jimmy Butler out of the picture, the Heat rose nine spots to become this week’s highest climber.
The Phoenix Suns, meanwhile, fell four more spots to No. 19 amid whispers of Kevin Durant’s dissatisfaction following a winless week that was highlighted by Luka Doncic’s 50 and 15 against them on Christmas. Oh my.
