Reports on NBA Trades: Malcolm Brogdon Connection to the Lakers
Malcolm Brogdon, a guard for the Portland Trail Blazers, may draw a lot of interest from teams before the NBA trade deadline on February 8. The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Houston Rockets are a few of the teams who may try to sign Brogdon. This information comes from Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
Fischer mentioned that those clubs are among the “main clubs involved in evaluating players at the upper echelon” of the position at the moment, though it’s unclear how much interest those teams have in Brogdon at this time.
Fischer claims that several point guards, such as Tyus Jones and Brogdon, currently command “at least” a first-round draft pick as their beginning salary. Since The Athletic’s Jovan Buha stated that the Lakers view Brogdon as more of a lateral shift “at best” from D’Angelo Russell, it’s possible that they are not really interested in signing him.
It’s highly likely that Brogdon will be considered by the Rockets and Knicks as a capable second-unit offensive player. With 43 starts for New York with 26.5 points and 6.4 assists per game, Jalen Brunson is enjoying the finest season of his career.
The Knicks’ acquisition of OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors was a major step forward. With a 28-17 record, they are now fourth in the Eastern Conference. In his rookie campaign with Houston, Fred VanVleet has had some ups and downs, but he is still averaging 17.3 points on 38.2 percent three-point shooting and a career-high 8.5 assists per game.
Although Houston has become more competitive as a result of its summer investment on VanVleet and Dillon Brooks, its 20-23 record only places them 11th in the Western Conference. With 35 games played for the Blazers, Brogdon, who is signed through the 2020–21 season, is averaging 15.7 points on 42.2 percent three-point shooting and 5.3 assists per contest.
