NRL 2024: The Melbourne Storm have re-signed promising talent Sua Fa’alogo on a five-year contract.
“Proud Melbourne boy” Sua Fa’alogo has been assured a significant salary increase by the Melbourne Storm, who have re-signed the explosive young player to a massive five-year contract.
Faalogo, who turns 21 in March, made the Storm’s top 30 list this year after garnering attention in just one NRL game the previous year—a Round 27 matchup against the Broncos.
Fa’alogo, who entered Suncorp Stadium through the Victorian pathway system and was given a development list contract worth just $60,000 this year, electrified the crowd with a double-digit score, one of which was scored shortly after he entered the field in the first half.
In the Pacific Championships at the end of the previous season, he then gave an incredible performance for Samoa against the all-star Australian lineup, solidifying his status as a rising talent and Melbourne’s must-have signing.
In addition to promising to “repay them on the field,” Fa’alogo claimed that signing the huge contract was a dream come true. Pundits have already urged Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy to include him as a wildcard off the bench as soon as feasible.
“Playing beside guys like (Cameron) Munster, Paps (Ryan Papenhuyzen), Harry (Grant), and Hughesy (Jahrome Hughes) is truly incredible for me,” Fa’alogo remarked.”I am a proud Samoan and a proud lad from Melbourne. I grew up playing football with the Northern Thunder, and my family is here. It is a dream come true to be able to take part in the storm.
“I hope I can repay Craig and the club on the field when my time comes. I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for me over the last couple of seasons. “Former Storm football manager Frank Ponissi stated that Fa’alogo was an exciting long-term addition to Melbourne’s lineup and that he had come a long way since joining the team in 2021.
Since joining us on a development list contract back in 2021, Sua has provided us with more than we could have asked for, according to Ponissi.”Anyone who watched his NRL debut and later played for Samoa will understand that he possesses amazing footwork and explosive pace.”
“Sua has been patient, playing with the Sunshine Coast Falcons last season before getting his chance to play in the NRL. We saw him when he played on our Thunderbolts and SG Ball teams. He is a great character to have around the club and brings an enormous amount of energy to the group.”
Although Fa’alogo’s contract specifics were kept under wraps, the young gun will at least quadruple his compensation in 2024 because the NRL minimum wage is set at $120,000.However, the new agreement is probably worth considerably more.
