When talking about Gregg Popovich’s relationship live on TNT Sports, Victor Wembanyama throws a great F-bomb: “Thank you for visiting cable TV.”
Wembanyama unintentionally dropped an F-bomb when talking about his connection with San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich during a live broadcast on TNT Sports, leaving Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley in stitches.
We were filming in front of everyone two or three months into the season, and I recall Popovich saying, “Yeah… what the f**k is this?”Wembanyama continued, quoting Popovich, entirely unaware as the TNT team broke out in giggles: “This is what you were doing on day one.” For what reason did you back off? You must always improve.”
He was talking about his friendship with Gregg Popovich, the coach of the San Antonio Spurs (right), saying, “So yeah, sometimes he sends messages like this.” Then, in jest, “welcome to cable TV,” said former NBA player turned analyst Kenny Smith. Then, sportscaster Ernie Johnson Jr. recognized his error and told Wembanyama, “You’re cool, don’t worry about it.”
Wembanyama, who San Antonio selected with the first overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, is having a fantastic season debut for the Spurs, averaging 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, and an 81 percent free-throw shooting thus far.
The 20-year-old made history last week when they defeated the Toronto Raptors by being the first player to record a triple-double with blocks for more than three years. Wembanyama will “change” the game of basketball, according to Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, who recently expressed his high regard for the Frenchman.
Even though Jokic is only 20, he predicted that Wembanyama’s impact will eventually become apparent during his remarks at All-Star weekend. I appreciate his approach. The 20-year-old rookie for the Spurs has had an almost faultless first season in the NBA. Jokic stated, “He really cares—he’s not scared of getting tired or feeling “embarrassed” in certain situations.”
“He merely plays with the intention of winning.” You can see he’s doing a lot of stuff on the court and that he’s giving it his all. He’s a really skilled player, thus. I’ve said it before: we just need to give him time and let him see through my belief that he will alter the game.
