Darko Rajakovic, the Raptors coach, was fined $25K US for his tirade at the officials.
In response to his public criticism of the refereeing, Toronto Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic was fined $25,000 US by the NBA.
When Toronto lost to the Lakers 132-131 in Los Angeles on Sunday, Rajakovic was disciplined for his long tirade.
Referees awarded the Lakers 23 free throws in the fourth quarter, but the Raptors only received two, which infuriated him.
The NBA and the officials should be embarrassed of what transpired, according to Rajakovic, who called the difference in calls “outrageous”.
Toronto entered the game with a shorthanded lineup in the paint after starting center Jakob Poeltl suffered an ankle strain.
With 11 of his 11 points coming from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, Lakers forward Anthony Davis scored 20 of his 41 points during that time.
Only 13 free throws were made by the Toronto team during the game, compared to 14 by Davis for the Lakers.
