RB Chip Traynum of the Ohio State Buckeyes accesses the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Chip Traynum, the backup running back, was another important player lost by the Ohio State Buckeyes to the NCAA Transfer Portal. This week, the NCAA Transfer Portal has severely harmed the Ohio State Buckeyes. most notably with the passing of Kyle McCord, a former starter at quarterback.
But according to reports, backup running back Chip Traynum entered his name into the portal on Wednesday, meaning the Buckeyes lost another important player.
As the Buckeyes prepare for their Cotton Bowl game against the Missouri Tigers in Arlington, the loss of Traynum has left the running back position somewhat uncertain. TreVeyon Henderson is still unsure of his plans for the upcoming season, while Evan Pryor has entered the NFL Draft portal. Miyan Williams had already declared for the draft.
Traynum, who ran 85 times for 373 yards and three touchdowns this season, filled in for Henderson when the Buckeyes were short-staffed due to injuries. For Ohio State this season, he participated in all 12 games.
Earlier in the season, he was also in charge of the walk-off touchdown against Notre Dame. Originally a linebacker recruit, Traynum eventually switched positions and became an important member of the offense for the Buckeyes.
Dallanayden will probably be the backup running back for the Buckeyes going forward since Traynum’s injury won’t affect his eligibility for the bowl game.
