The Raptors and Knicks had different opinions about Bruce Brown’s draft compensation.
The main player traded by the Indiana Pacers for Pascal Siakam was Bruce Brown, who was sent to the Toronto Raptors. It sounds like Brown might be moving about once more.
According to Spotrac, the versatile 27-year-old has a $23 million team option for the next season, so if his employer decides not to pick it up, he will essentially be on an expiring contract. Because of this, he’s emerged as one of the most likely prospects for this trade season; according to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, the Knicks are among the teams interested in acquiring him, along with the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers.
According to SportsNet’s Michael Grange, the Raptors have asked for and been offered a first-round pick for Brown; however, New York and Toronto cannot agree on which draft pick to give them. While the Raptors are “holding out for a future Knicks first-rounder,” Grange stated that the Knicks are staking their claim to a 2024 first-round pick.
Although Brown does not possess a particularly strong skill, he does have the general talents of your standard glue guy. He performed brilliantly in that precise capacity for the Denver Nuggets during their championship run the previous season.
