Rockets game: two rotation players added for the Celtics
When the Celtics play Ime Udoka and the Rockets at the Toyota Center on Sunday, they’ll be hoping to get back on the winning track. It appears like the C’s will be, at the very least, significantly shorthanded before the Rockets game.
Al Horford (rest) and Jrue Holiday (right elbow injury) are both doubtful for Sunday’s 7 p.m. game. The C’s will play a back-to-back on Monday when they travel to Dallas to play the Mavericks. Horford did not participate in either of those contests, so it is understandable that the C’s might want to suit him up in Dallas.
Due to the elbow sprain he’s been dealing with for the previous few weeks, Holiday has been listed on the injury report a few times. Other than one or two odd games, he hasn’t lost much time. However, there’s a potential the C’s will rest their starter on Sunday, thus he might miss the game. The Celtics lost their opening home game of the season despite pushing the Nuggets to the very end. They now face the 19–21 Rockets in an attempt to recover from that defeat. The C’s will face former coach Udoka again this season; on January 13, the clubs played and Boston won handily.
This upcoming road trip will involve more than just seeing Udoka for the Cs. This will be their first meeting with their old friend Grant Williams, the former big player for the Boston Celtics, in Dallas. It should be an entertaining game between two excellent teams, and Kyrie Irving has also been a game-changer for the Mavericks.
