Cause of death for a fan of Taylor Swift who saw the Rio concert revealed
A Taylor Swift fan who attended a concert in Brazil passed away, and the cause of death was disclosed in a forensics report obtained by the Associated Press.
According to the report provided by Rio’s Forensic Medical Institute, Ana Clara Benevides, 23, sustained cardiorespiratory arrest due to heat stroke while attending the Eras Tour performance in Rio de Janeiro on November 17. Benevides passed out while listening to “Cruel Summer,” Swift’s second song.
The document said that she had no history of drug misuse or preexisting medical issues that would have contributed to her demise. Benevides reportedly experienced “serious compromise of her lungs and sudden death” as a result of the heat.
In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, fans of Taylor Swift wait in the heat for her Eras Tour concert to begin at the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium.
That day, the city’s temperature was approximately 105 degrees Fahrenheit.Several spectators expressed their displeasure on social media about being prohibited from bringing water bottles inside Nilton Santos Stadium. While they waited to enter the stadium, one of Benevides’ companions who attended the concert reported to local media sources that they had been given water.
Recently arriving in Rio from Los Angeles, Elizabeth Morin told the AP about her experience, describing the stadium’s inside as “sauna-like.”
It was sweltering outside. As soon as I walked in, my hair was drenched from sweat,” she remarked. “I had to check my breathing at one point to make sure I wasn’t going to pass out.” Following Benevides’ passing, Swift said on Instagram that she was “overwhelmed by grief” and had a “shattered heart.”
“I would like to express that I am currently grieving greatly for her family and friends. When we agreed to bring this tour to Brazil, I never imagined something like this would happen,” the woman remarked.
Due to the severe temperatures, the pop diva also canceled the show that was scheduled for November 18, stressing that “the safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.”The 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides Machado passed away, and her organizers, T4F, announced her death on Instagram. “We are very sorry to hear of her passing,” the statement read. “Ana Clara became ill last night. The fire and ambulance crew responded quickly, and she was brought to the Nilton Santos Stadium medical center for first aid procedures.
In light of the circumstances, the medical staff decided to move her to Salgado Filho Hospital, where she sadly passed away following nearly an hour of emergency care. Our deepest sympathies go out to Ana Clara Benevides Machado’s family and friends.”
It has been refuted by T4F that it forbade supporters from bringing their own water to the performance. Water bottles will be permitted entry into the stadium for the remaining Eras Tour events in Rio, according to a later post on the official Eras Tour X account.
The Rio public prosecutor’s office has reportedly launched a criminal inquiry, according to the AP. Rio police announced on Wednesday that “representatives of the company organizing the event will be called to testify” following the analysis of the forensics report.
