As Iowa blows a chance to tie Indiana, social media takes a 180-degree turn.
After that, things evolved. Junior forward Payton Sandford and senior guard Tony Perkins had incredible games as Iowa came out swinging in the second half, overcoming their deficit. Along with 22 from Perkins, Sand Fort scored 26.
Despite the fact that the rest of the team was still mired in mud, those two gave the Hawkeyes their all. In the second half, they managed to gain the upper hand and force Iowa back into the game.
Now, based just on that statement, one may assume that Iowa won this game. Not at all. The only significant difference between the two halves was that Iowa even had the lead at one point in the second half, making things very intriguing. It should have been their victory. You are aware that they didn’t, though, if you know anything about this team. They lost the game 74-68, giving up the lead right back to Indiana.
The Hawkeyes simply folded ridiculously in a game they couldn’t afford to lose again. Observe the responses of a fan base that, after believing they were seeing a comeback victory, would ultimately have their hearts torn out.
