The complete list of Ohio State players who declined to participate in the Cotton Bowl against Missouri can be found here.
Ryan Day would desperately need the victory as he has fallen short against rival Michigan the last three seasons. Winning the bowl game would definitely keep him out of the firing line, even though he’s not in it yet. And he appears to have the ability to do it this time around because, aside from transfers, no Buckeye has chosen to withdraw from the game.
Ohio State has been chosen for ten consecutive seasons to play in a New Year’s Six bowl game. It is confident and experienced enough to defeat a program on the rise like Missouri. At least one key member will need to be absent for it to succeed.
Cotton Bowl absence of Ohio State players
As for the Buckeyes, no player has chosen to skip the Cotton Bowl in order to get ready for the NFL Draft. That implies that they won’t face the Tigers head-on.
For the first time since October 21, a new quarterback will need to take over at quarterback because Kyle McCord has transferred out of the program.
Marin Harrison Jr., who is expected to be selected first overall in the draft, has not yet filed to enter the draft. He went to Dallas with the team, but he hasn’t been practicing together. Though it would be surprising if he did, it is not to suggest he won’t play one more game as a Buckeye.
So far, every Ohio State player who was not selected to participate in the Cotton Bowl has left the team.

- Ohio State Cotton Bowl depth chart
- Devin Brown is called up as the regular season’s starter, McCord, transfers. This season, the sophomore quarterback played in five games but did not start. He completed 12 of 22 passes for 197 yards. In his two touchdown passes, he threw one interception.
- Another athlete who was anticipated to choose not to play is TreVeyon Henderson. By practicing with the squad in Dallas, the running back has all but confirmed that he will participate in the Cotton Bowl. Ohio State will rely more on Emeka Egbuka, a top pro prospect who will be participating, as Harrison is anticipated to sit out. Despite missing three games this season due to an ankle ailment, Egbuka amassed 452 yards and four touchdowns.
- Denzel Burke declared he will wear the Buckeye jersey for the last time.
