Mark Cuban, the former majority owner, assures the Dallas Mavericks’ workers that he will give them $35 million in bonuses.
Employees were informed by Cuban, “As a thank you for all your hard work making the Mavs an amazing organization, each of you will be receiving a bonus from myself, and the Adelson and Dumont families,” in an internal memo that ESPN’s Tim MacMahon was able to obtain.
Cuban went on, “Together, we will be giving you all bonuses totaling over $35,000,000.” Your length of service with the Mavs was taken into account by the framework we used to determine your incentive. Per the ESPN article, the memo stated, “You will receive your bonus in the very near future.”
CNN was able to verify the contents of the document via Mavericks spokesperson Alan Rakowski.
The Dallas Mavericks are being sold by Mark Cuban to the families of Dr. Miriam Adelson, Sivan, and Patrick Dumont. This was approved by the NBA Board of Governors, the league said last week.
In November of last year, CNN reported that the Adelson family, who own a majority stake in Las Vegas Sands and consist of Sivan and Patrick Dumont, the daughter and son-in-law of Miriam Adelson, had struck an agreement to purchase a majority in the NBA team. The Mavericks franchise is valued at a premium of almost $3.5 billion, according to prior reports. The specifics of the sale remained unclear.
The Dallas Mavericks are one of the most successful and well-known sports teams in the world, according to a statement made at the time by the families of Adelson and Dumont. Along with a devoted and enthusiastic fan base and a leadership group led by Mark Cuban, the team has earned an NBA title and a lengthy history of drawing superstars from across the world.
As stated in the announcement from November, Cuban is expected to continue playing a big part for the NBA team. As to the statement, “We are excited to collaborate with Mark Cuban to further enhance the team’s achievements and heritage in Dallas and other regions.”
Reports in the media at the time stated that Cuban would continue to oversee basketball operations and maintain a portion of the Mavericks franchise.
