The most recent pick from Clemson football in the NFL Draft’s second round is Ruke Orhorhoro.
The Baltimore Ravens selected Tigers cornerback Nate Wiggins, 30, overall, in the first round of the draft late on Thursday night. Wiggins gave the program at least one first round pick ten of the previous twelve years, and he was Clemson’s eighteenth first round selection since 2009โDabo Swinney’s first draft as the team’s head coach.
Earlier this year, Wiggins brought five teammates to the NFL combine, and all five are expected to participate in the last two days of the draft. For the rest of the draft, the Clemson choices are as follows:
CB Nate Wiggins: selected by the Baltimore Ravens at No. 30 overall in the first round
DT Ruke Orhorhoro: No. 35 overall to the Atlanta Falcons in the second round
To the Atlanta Falcons, DT Ruke Orhorhoro
The Falcons move up to draft Orhorhoro, who goes with the third choice in the second round, earlier than anticipated. The Nigerian senior, who was selected for the third team of the All-ACC, was a combine standout. In 2023, he recorded a career-high 5.0 sacks.
Baltimore Ravens to CB Nate Wiggins
Wiggins had a brief but fruitful stay at Clemson. A 2021 prospect who switched late in the recruiting season from LSU to Clemson, He didn’t play much as a freshman, but he quickly became a starter in his sophomore year. Every game, Wiggins amazed everyone with his speed (just watch his 98-yard pick-six against UNC in the ACC title game in 2022, or his running back chasedowns of Miami and UNC in 2023).
Even though he was selected in the final few spots on Thursday, Wigginsโa former All-ACC cornerback who ran a 4.28-second 40-yard dash at the combineโwas regarded as a first-round lock going into the draft. The Ravens, who finished as the AFC’s top seed the previous season, might benefit greatly from an early boost from Wiggins.
