Source: Raptors trade Pacers for two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Toronto Raptors are negotiating a trade that would send two-time All-Star forward Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Jordan Nwora, Bruce Brown, and three first-round picks.
Kira Lewis Jr. is headed to Toronto, and the New Orleans Pelicans will send a second-round pick to Indiana as part of the transaction.
According to Wojnarowski, Indiana will draft “the worst of Utah/Houston/Clippers/OKC” in the first round in 2024.
Siakam has one year left on his contract and is owed $37.9 million.
After trading OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks at the end of December, this is the Raptors’ second big deal of the season.
Siakam has spent his entire seven-year career with the Raptors, who selected him in the first round (27th overall) of the 2016 NBA Draft. In 37 games, the six-foot-nine Siakam has averaged 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists. He appeared in 71 games last season and averaged 24.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists.
After the trades of Siakam and Anunoby, as well as the off-season departure of point guard Fred VanVleet, the Raptors’ lone remaining player from their 2019 championship season is Chris Boucher.
Brown, who signed a two-year contract with Indiana in the offseason, averaged 12.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 47.5 percent from the field, and 32.7 percent from three in 33 games with the Pacers. Brown will bring his skill set to Toronto. He has a 2024-2025 club option.
Nwora has averaged 5.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 18 games with the Pacers. The 25-year-oldโs contract is due to expire.
Lewis Jr. has played 15.6 minutes per game this season and averaging 2.9 points in 15 Pelicans games. In the offseason, he will be a restricted free agent.
