In Monday night’s game against the Giants, linebacker Quay Walker of the Packers is questionable while receiver Christian Watson is ruled out.
Late in the Kansas City Chiefs game last week, Watson strained his right hamstring. This week, he did not practice. Prior to the injury, Watson was the Packers’ best receiver, hauling in 14 passes for 186 yards and four touchdowns amid the team’s winning run of three games; however, during that same time frame, other playmakers also rose to prominence.
Although Watson’s timing is unfortunate, coach Matt LaFleur is optimistic that younger playmakers, like rookies Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and tight end Tucker Kraft, will step up to fill the void.
Christian is undoubtedly a key component of our attack, according to LaFleur. And it seems like he’s finally found his groove. That’s unfortunate because it took him a while to get settled into our system this year, so that’s obviously not great.
These past few weeks, he’s made so many amazing plays, but I’m happy with the other guys. They seem to be really mature, and we have a ton of players that we can insert into different positions to make up for that loss.
Therefore, the absence of one guy presents an opportunity for the group as a whole. I believe those guys are up to the task.
Alexander has missed the last four games due to a shoulder injury, which he is attempting to recover from. While he was practicing all last week, he did not suit up to play the Chiefs. This season, Alexander has only appeared in five games. To be honest with you, I think we’re all frustrated about it, stated LaFleur. “But that is the reality.”
Despite Watson’s absence from the Packers offense, Aaron Jones, the running back, might make a comeback against the Giants. Due to a sprained MCL, Jones has missed the previous two games and is listed as questionable.
Lori Nickel: LaFleur stated earlier this week that the field turf at MetLife Stadium won’t be taken into consideration for Jones’ ability to recover from his knee injury. Packers rookie Carrington Valentine still plays cornerback with a receiver’s swagger.
