It feels like Rafael Nadal is hurting Andy Murray.
Murray disclosed on social media that his left ankle sustained a near-complete rupture of the Calcaneofibular Ligament and a complete rupture of the Anterior Talo-Fibular Ligament. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, a “extended absence” is necessary.
Though a comeback date is undetermined, he has previously promised to return and even joked that he would return with a metal hip and no ankle ligament damage. Many are hoping to catch him this summer at Wimbledon.
Fans are furious about Murray’s injuries. Feelings of Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal suffered a hip injury early in 2023, forcing him to miss a significant amount of time. Everyone was expecting he would return in time for the French Open. Prior to Roland Garros, Rafael Nadal repeatedly withdrew from important clay court tournaments. He eventually took the entire year off from competition to recover. In 2024, we haven’t seen much of him either because he is still dealing with health problems.
Murray has a serious injury, and Rafael Nadal has shown us that as top athletes reach their mid-30s, their bodies no longer heal as they once did. We fervently hope and pray that Murray returns to Wimbledon in 2024. Rather than simply appreciating his tennis skills and enthusiasm for the game every time he took the court, people have been questioning him about his retirement plans for months. They now have even more material for conjecture.
We are going back to the second round, when Murray landed the ultimate lob, in the interim. People questioned if anybody else could do such a skillful lob, and Judy Murray, his mother, added that she was “pretty sure” she could.
