An offensive lineman for Michigan football accesses the transfer portal.
Stewart, a 6-foot-7, 292-pound lineman from Muskegon, Michigan, played five games during his four-year tenure with the Wolverines. Prior to the Big Ten Championship game against Purdue, in 2022, Stewart was named the scout team’s offensive player of the week. He also earned two academic All-Big Ten selections.
Stewart was a member of the team during one of the most successful runs in Michigan football history, despite the fact that he may have contributed behind the scenes. He owns three Big Ten titles, is unbeaten versus Ohio State(3-0), and clearly has the potential to win both a Rose Bowl and a national championship. That’s a solid five rings for Stewart.
The fact that Stewart left for the gateway probably won’t affect what is ahead for the upcoming season. Michigan will most likely start Hinton, El-Hadi, Crippen, Prieve, and Gentry in place of the starting five that included Jones, Henderson, Keegan, Nugent, Zinter, Barnhart, and the national championship team. Raheem Anderson can play center, but Jeffrey Persi is likely the first player off the bench at either guard or tackle. In any case, one of the nation’s deepest position groupings is being reloaded by the Wolverines.
This is Michigan’s sixth portal entry of the off-season. Stewart is one of the players leaving along with Matthew Hibner, Cam Calhoun, Amorion Walker, Darrius Clemons, and Sam Staruch. It is anticipated that more players would follow in the doorway if Jim Harbaugh accepts a position in the NFL. Michigan, on the other hand, has only added two players to bolster their roster. Josh Priebe (IOL) and Jaishawn Barnham (LB) appear to be starters, if not major contributors.
It’s a strange environment to traverse in college football’s new era. In order to be competitive for national titles in the future, Michigan could need to replicate its performance from last year in the portal.
