Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers agree to 2-year, $52 million extension
Schefter claims that the season’s compensation of $26 million “is the largest for a wide receiver this old on his third contract.”
Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht, who selected Evans with his first draft pick as a general manager, declared last week at the NFL scouting combine that he intended to make Evans a “Buc for life.” The two parties attempted to reach an agreement before the 2023 regular season, but negotiations were postponed until after the season when a deadline of September 9th was missed.
Take that as the leverage Evans needed to force the Buccaneers to make an offer he couldn’t turn down.

With 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first ten seasons, Evans is the first wide receiver in NFL history to accomplish this feat. The second receiver to record ten consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards is him as well. With 14, only Jerry Rice had more.
