Commentary: “JJ McCarthy Is The Perfect Marriage Between High Floor And High Ceiling”
In his first mock draft, FantasyPoints.com’s Brett Whitefield officially declared that McCarthy is his top pick at quarterback in this draft, ranking higher than both Drake Maye and Caleb Williams. Whitefield reveals in the video above why he would select McCarthy over all other quarterbacks in the nation. In addition to mentioning physical attributes like footwork, arm strength, athleticism, and general arm talent, he also mentions JJ’s intangibles, which are what really set him apart. JJ’s winning pedigree and 27-1 record are highlighted by Whitefield. He discusses maturity and preparedness off the field. He further points out that, in contrast to players like Williams, Maye, and even Heisman winner Jayden, JJ has participated in and won the biggest games in college football.
Jim Harbaugh publicly stated that McCarthy ought to be selected first overall and would be when he took the Los Angeles Chargers head coaching position. Naturally, the notion was met with laughter and dismissed as Harbaugh supporting his man. However, as April 25 approaches, it appears that some teams may indeed have McCarthy at the top of their draft board.
