Trade for Dolphins Pro-Bowl Quarterback is Suggested by the Vikings
In an episode of “First Things First,” Nick Wright urged the Vikings to sell those picks to the Dolphins, who would then get Tagovailoa.
“If I were advising the Dolphins, I would tell them, ‘Hey, you know how Minnesota obtained an extra first-round pick?’ They hold the 11th and 23rd picks because they want a quarterback.
“I’d call them and ask what they thought about Tua Tagovailoa. You may have quarterback consistency, which would alleviate Justin Jefferson’s concerns.”
With uncertainty surrounding their future, the Vikings still have questions to answer this offseason. The majority of them are concerned about who will be their quarterback, and this would resolve those difficulties.
The Dolphins may be interested in receiving first-round picks, but given their current situation and the fact that they have a chance to contend for a Super Bowl, dealing Tagovailoa may not make sense.
Dolphins Urged to Trade Tagovailoa
Joel Klatt urged that the Miami Dolphins trade Tagovailoa. He urged that the Dolphins trade Tagovailoa so that they may choose Michael Penix Jr. from Washington. These remarks were made during an edition of “The Joel Klatt Show” on March 21.
“We waited a long time because I had wanted to do this. I did it in my first mock, and I will do it again here. I’ve been waiting for news on the Tua contract. Tua does not have a deal, which I find telling. Tua, in my opinion, is not the proper fit for Mike McDaniel’s offense.
He believes Penix would be a better fit for them and their offensive scheme. “When you watch Miami and what they do, you see that they need a player that throws down the field on time, with excellent leverage, and accuracy. There simply happens to be a guy sitting there with it as his best attribute, and his name is Michael Penix.”
In this scenario, the Dolphins did not trade their pick, but they could ensure Penix by trading with the Minnesota Vikings, as Wright recommended.
Should the Dolphins make this trade?
While the Miami Dolphins have yet to achieve their goals with Tagovailoa, trading him to the Minnesota Vikings does not change that.
If they were to trade Tagovailoa, they would be better off with a seasoned NFL quarterback. Tagovailoa showed in 2023 that he has the potential to be the Dolphins franchise quarterback, leading the NFL in passing yards (4,624).
People were concerned about his health before the season began. With Tagovailoa playing the entire season, the Dolphins had their greatest season in a long time. Moving him to the Vikings or any other club would be a fascinating decision, to say the least, given his season.
