Following his humiliating dismissal from Birmingham, Wayne Rooney is considering a high-paying position in Saudi Arabia.
Following his dismissal from Birmingham City at the start of January, Wayne Rooney is attempting to relaunch his managerial career. Wayne Rooney, who has only won two of his fifteen games in charge at St Andrew’s, is aiming to redeem himself by staging an incredible return to management in Saudi Arabia.
Birmingham City fired Rooney at the beginning of the month following his terrible 13-week tenure in leadership. The 15 games he managed saw just two victories, dropping the Blues from sixth to 20th in the championship standings.
After a successful start to his managerial career that included stints at Derby County and DC United, it was the first setback. Rooney has had a break from football since leaving St. Andrew’s, which included a vacation to Dubai.
It seems, though, that he is prepared to return to the dugout now that he has been fired for more than a month. Since it seems doubtful that Rooney will find work in England again for the foreseeable future, he is searching for fresh opportunities.
The Sun claims that the former Manchester United player is eager to start working in the Saudi Pro League. It is believed that Rooney is ‘itching’ to return to management and is unfazed by the catastrophe at Birmingham.
Rather, he is reported to feel that he has gained knowledge from the experience and would ‘love’ to be the manager of a Saudi squad. Following his successful stint in Major League Soccer (MLS) with DC United, Rooney believes he can apply his American work experience to the Saudi elite division.
According to rumors, Rooney has been informed that Saudi clubs are probably quite interested in him. After the transfer craze of last summer, the Saudis are hoping that by acquiring his talents, they will further raise awareness of their league.
The Saudi League standings suffered after Jordan Henderson left during the January transfer window. However, Rooney’s hiring would support the idea that it needs to be given careful thought.
Rooney insists that his goal is to manage in the Premier League someday, despite rumors that he is aware it is still a ways off. Upon the announcement of his departure from Birmingham, Rooney declared his desire to take a break from coaching.
“I would like to thank Tom Wagner, Tom Brady, and Garry Cook for the opportunity to manage Birmingham City FC and the support they all gave me during my short period with the club,” he said in a press release.
